Trimble begins Summer Reading Program

Reelfoot spillway repairs delayed as state seeks proper permits

Repairs to the leaking Reelfoot Lake spillway did not begin on Monday, June 4, as planned. Pamela Marshall, community relations officer for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, reported Monday that TDOT still needs "to acquire appropriate permits before work can begin. Once we have the permits in hand then we will notify businesses and residents at least one week before work begins on the repairs."...

Bekaert files suit against city, electric system

Bekaert in May filed a civil action against Dyersburg, Dyersburg Electric and DES chief Jimmy Williamson seeking relief from what the company calls "unreasonable and discriminatory" electric rates and violating a TVA contract. The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Memphis, complains DES is illegally overcharging by double the normal rate since Bekaert did not sign a two-year contract...
