Eight years for drug arrest

A 28-year-old man received a sentence of effectively eight years in prison for selling cocaine. Irva "Jig" Cole, 28, address unavailable, pleaded guilty in Dyer County Circuit Court on Nov. 14 to two counts of selling more than a half gram of cocaine and one count of selling less than half a gram of cocaine. Man gets four years for hurting child in brawl

Fired officer seeks $3 million; wants back on police force

The Dyersburg police officer fired over a domestic assault in July 2005 is seeking $3 million and reinstatement to his former job in a civil rights lawsuit. According to the lawsuit, filed in October in U.S. District Court in Memphis, Jimmy L. Porter is seeking an injunction against the city, Chief Terry Ledbetter and retired chief Bobby Williamson ordering them to allow Porter back in his former position as a lieutenant with the Criminal Investigative Division of the department, with back pay...
