Halls man identified as burglar in cigarette theft case

On Tuesday, Dec. 23, the State Gazette ran photos of a man suspected of stealing $460 in cigarettes from the Murphy Oil Co. on Lake Road on Dec. 18. The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Dusty Haynes of Halls. A person who recognized the suspect from a photo identified the man to authorities. Haynes was then arrested on Dec. 31, and charged with burglary...

Dyersburg Police Chief Ledbetter suspended

On Monday, Jan. 5, Mayor John Holden suspended Dyersburg Police Chief Terry Ledbetter, from his employment duties. The suspension was ordered in accordance with the policy and practice of the City of Dyersburg as a result of allegations of sexual harassment having been made against Ledbetter by an employee of the Dyersburg Police Department.
