Joseph "Just Joe" Borders, 43, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, July 16, 2009 in Dyersburg. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Wrestling was his life and he enjoyed announcing for local wrestling shows. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti, Mo. with Bro. Mark Pendergrass officiating. State considers demolishing Airpark Inn

The Airpark Inn is probably closed forever. The landmark structure in Reelfoot Lake State Park shut its doors in November. A fire had destroyed six of the inn's 20 rooms. A January ice storm complicated matters. The inn was without electricity or heat for nearly two weeks. Water pipes froze and burst. The inn's water supply was cut off and remains off. The inn's remaining rooms can't be reopened until the water lines - and several other problems - are fixed...

Dyersburg First's Back-to-School Block Party scheduled for Saturday

The leadership and congregation at Dyersburg First Assembly of God believe in reaching into the community. So much so that members regularly shorten the name of the church to "Dyersburg First" when referring to the church or its outreach programs. The church's annual Back-to-School Block Party is one example of the congregation's campaign to put Dyersburg First as church members join with businesses and individuals throughout the community to provide as many as 700 backpacks to children returning to school.. ...

City receives Quality of Life award from TML

The city of Dyersburg was recently presented a 2009 Achievement Award for Excellence in Quality of Life Initiatives by the Tennessee Municipal League at the organization's 70th annual conference at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Dyersburg was recognized for significant improvements to public services and municipal operations ranging from downtown revitalization efforts to police services. City awarded $375,000 in HOME rehabilitation funds

The city of Dyersburg recently announced it will receive $375,000 to address housing rehabilitation activities for low- to moderate-income homeowners within the city of Dyersburg.
