Halls teen faces murder charges in Newbern shooting

A murder charge against a Halls teen-ager was dismissed Nov. 3 in Dyer County Circuit Court. Dismissing the charge didn't clear the teen of the crime, however. Colton Whitelow, 19, 366 Cherry Dale, had already been indicted a second time on Oct. 12. The superseding indictment increased the number of murder charges from one to two. He now faces charges of first-degree murder, first-degree felony murder and aggravated assault...

City board applies for grant to install downtown traffic lights

Members of the Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a resolution allowing Mayor John Holden to submit an application for a grant to fund traffic lights in the downtown renovation. City Recorder Gleyn Twilla informed the board that the city and county are each submitting identical applications for a Tennessee Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant to help pay for cantilevered signal lighting to match the new streetlights chosen for the downtown district...
