Ora Bell Manns, 86, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at H.H. Hudson Funeral Home with the Rev. Sylvester Hicks officiating. The family will receive visitors at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Survivors include six daughters, Catherine Tatum, Ora Lee Tatum, Mae Helen Johnson, Shirley Johnson, Elizabeth Manns and Pauline Manns; five sons, Lee Wilson Manns, Lonell Manns, Walter Lewis Manns, Dennis Manns and Billy Wayne Manns; a sister, Bernice Wallace; and a brother, Joe Hicks.. ...

County firefighters rescue couple from house fire

Dyer County firefighters rescued two people from a house fire on Monday evening after the occupants called 911. The Newbern and East Dyer County fire departments responded to a house fire at 645 Snow Farm Road, in Tatumville, at approximately 11 p.m. on Monday. When fire crews arrived they discovered a man and woman still inside the house while a bedroom was on fire. The man was having trouble with his mobility and the woman was trying to assist him out of the house...
