Gun sale to felon results in probation

A Milan man accused of selling a handgun to a convicted felon has been sentenced to two years of supervised probation. Gerald Matheny, who was born in 1936, pleaded guilty June 22 in U.S. District Court in Jackson. Police report 2 aggravated burglaries Saturday

A couple of aggravated burglaries occurred on Saturday, with one ending in a suspect's arrest. The first incident happened in the 1800 block of Harris Street when the homeowner returned home to find Paul Barch, 33, 200 Joe Circle, inside the residence. The police arrived and arrested Barch. Newbern city board approves sewer rates, awards tree trimming
