Many times in abuse cases and otherwise, we hear, "Oh, it is just a dog!" Sadly, it is the way some people feel about God's creatures, whether it be dogs, cats or otherwise. We are their voice and speak for those who can't speak for themselves. Please be their voice, also. If you see abuse and mistreatment, stand up for the poor, helpless animal. If you don't take action to save that animal's life, who will? Call the shelter, police, or sheriff's department. You will be glad you did...

Transitions names second winner in 12 Days of Christmas fundraiser

On the second day of Christmas, Transitions gave to Lynn Fritchey ... one pair of table lamps. Donated by General Appliance and Furniture, the lamps are the second gift awarded in the 2010 Transitions 12 Days of Christmas fundraiser. Names will be drawn each day between now and Christmas for prizes donated by area businesses. Habitat for Humanity to hold open house for newest recipient

Habitat for Humanity in Northwest Tennessee will have an open-house celebration for Clarence Livingston Jr. at 101 Lake St. in Newbern this Saturday, Dec. 18, at 10 a.m. This is Habitat for Humanity's 19th house in Northwest Tennessee.
