Red Cross honors volunteers

The Northwest Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross held its volunteer recognition dinner on Monday, Aug. 20, at Lupo's Italian Restaurante. The guest speaker of the evening was Joel Sullivan, CEO of the Tennessee Volunteer Region of the American Red Cross (far right). Sullivan spoke of his experiences within the organization and an overview of how the Red Cross helps people times of need. Afterward, a number of businesses were recognized for their commitment to the Red Cross. Wayne Karlgaard (far left) was also presented a special recognition award by Northwest Tennessee Chapter Executive Lynn Fritchey (second from right) for his many years of service. Author to hold book signing Saturday

Local author L. Neyl Rietcheck holds his first book, 'Cayman Escape', described by his readers as 'the perfect summer read.' The book, planned as the first in a series, is now available at Hastings. A book signing is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 8, at the store located in Green Village Shopping Center.

Dyer County School Board hosts 'story time'

The Dyer County School Board held its regular September meeting with a full house and a full agenda. The meeting took place in the boardroom at Central Office on Tuesday evening. Board members began the meeting with a little shuffling. Tyler was last seen on Saturday, June 30, at Barker's Trailer Park off of Christie Street in Dyersburg.
