Voter registration booth at fair yields over 100 new voters

Fairest of the Fair Taylor Whittle draws the winning registrants at the voter registration booth sponsored by William Mallard at this year's Dyer County Fair. Of the 1,262 registered voters and 141 new registrants of changes submitted, Daurice Sentell and Christopher Roberts were the winners respectively in each category. Each winner was awarded $50. The new registrants will be eligible to vote in the upcoming 2014 election.

Gov. Bill Haslam announced on Wednesday, Sept. 18 the appointment of 172 Tennesseans to 70 boards and commissions throughout the state.
