Firestone donates to YMCA

Dyersburg Firestone recently donated funds to the YMCA of Dyer County's annual campaign, which benefits the many YMCA programs offered to promote fitness and well-being within the community. The campaign is also used to fund scholarships to residents who cannot afford a program fee. '(Donations like this) make it possible for the YMCA to offer scholarships to ensure everyone can participate in programs like summer feeding and Year of Change,' said YMCA President and CEO Randy Butler. City planners to study rezoning requests of land near industrial park

Chimes for Charity ends Sunday

Firestone was the show's sponsor and brought in $4,345 in pledges for auction items and had 89 children sponsored. Most of the sponsors were in memory of Delois Davis, a former employee of Firestone who passed away earlier in the year. Now in its 65th year, Chimes for Charity is put together by the Dyersburg Jaycees to benefit local children at Christmas time. The show goes live again today (Sunday, Nov. 17) with the final broadcast of the week, starting at 2 p.m. It can be seen via live feed on the State Gazette's website (www.stategazette.com), CableOne's Channel 4, and Chimes for Charity website (http://www.chimes4charity.com).
