Highlands selects Christine Lavender as August 'Resident of the Month'

Eighty-five-year-old Highlands resident Christine Lavender has recently been chosen as Highlands 'Resident of the Month' for August. A native of Dyer County, Lavender has been a resident of Highlands since 2011, and says that she could not be surrounded by a better group of friends and workers.

Dyersburg AL All-Stars ready for World Series in Louisiana

Just about three weeks removed from winning the Dixie Boys 14-and-under state championship on their home field, the Dyersburg American League All-Stars will hit the road this week as they look to bring home championship hardware from the 2016 Dixie Boys 14-and-under World Series in Pineville, Louisiana which gets underway Friday night.

DCHS to change framework of Honors classes

The Dyer County Board of Education convened late Tuesday night to discuss items on the agenda including updates from Dyer County Schools Coordinated Health, student testing procedures and school policies, DCHS student handbook changes, and the approval of Differentiated Pay and funds used for the purchase of football equipment.

Bids approved, complaints heard at city board meeting

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen met Monday, Aug. 1, in the Dyersburg Municipal Court Room at 7 p.m. Mayor John Holden presided over the meeting. The meeting opened with prayer by Alderman Terry Glover. All aldermen and alderwomen were present, as noted by Mayor Holden.
