DSCC hosts Welcome Back Bash Monday

Dyersburg State Community College will host a Welcome Back Bash for all new and returning students Monday, Aug. 22 from 11 a.m. -- 1 p.m. at all DSCC locations. Free refreshments, giveaways, special appearances from state and local legislators, a photo booth and fun activities are planned. Under the theme 'My Future's So Bright,' Tennessee Promise and Reconnect students will be invited to participate in a variety of activities during the college's annual Welcome to Campus celebrations, including writing down their visions of their futures on a special banner and taking a 'future selfie' dressed in graduation attire or other gear associated with their future careers.

Edward Jones office donates school supplies

The local Edward Jones office of Chris Weik recently participated in a school supply drive to benefit the students of Megan Barker at Three Oaks Middle School. The supplies were donated by Weik's office and their clients. Pictured left to right: Heather McFarland, branch office administrator, Megan Barker, TOMS teacher, and Chris Weik, financial advisor.

Firestone donates $1500 to YMCA

Early Wednesday evening, YMCA CEO Randy Butler was delighted to accept a donation from Bridgestone Americas Trust in the amount of $1,500, which was presented by various team members of the plant, as well as Firestone Plant Manager Mike Kroeger. According to Butler, this annual donation will go toward funding scholarships for children who are unable to afford a program fee.
