100 guests gather for Dyer County's first Farm to Table Dinner
(Local News ~ 08/21/16)
On Thursday, Aug. 18 the Main Street Farmers Market and Healing Horses Inc., located at 270 Parker Road, hosted the first ever Farm to Table Dinner in Dyer County! The event took place at 6:30 p.m. at the RoEllen Ranch Farm Adventure, located at 1359 Don Hurley Road, Dyersburg, and housed 100 guests. 'Farm to Table defined the synergy between our community partners by working together for a common cause. I couldn't think of a more exciting and worthwhile opportunity for local talent to showcase dishes prepared with ingredients from local growers. Food and family is often the core of the cultural fabric for many families and I believe our guests were able to experience this in a down-home country setting,' stated Chamber of Commerce V.P. of Finance and Administration Development Tammy Hall. According to Downtown Development Director Steve Guttery, tickets for the event were sold out as early as Monday, Aug. 15. Special thanks are extended to all who helped make this premier event possible, as well as the Bus Stop, Bus Stop Chef and Farm to Table Dinner Chef/Coordinator Eric Moore, French's Catering and Design, Joe's Downtown Market, Lupo's, Deedlebomb Design and Creation, Dyersburg Photographic Society, Healing Horses, Main Street Farmers Market, Dyersburg/Dyer County FFA students, Restoration Station, RoEllen Ranch Farm Adventure, Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Dyersburg, State Gazette, and Burks Beverage Broadcasting. Special thanks to those who provided products for the goody bags including: Tennessee Realty, Dyersburg State Community College, Pennington Seed and Supply, PickTN Products, Fyrne Lake Farms, Dyer County Farm Bureau, Air Choice One, TN Soybean Assoc., Wyldewood Soapworks, Farmhouse Bakery, and the Chamber of Commerce. 'The quality of fresh local vegetables served at the event was wonderful, and the recipes used were nothing short of amazing. The event was sold out, and we were able to spread much more awareness about how Healing Horses Incorporated is able to help local individuals by providing therapeutic equine-assisted services. I would also like to commend the Dyersburg/Dyer County FFA students who served wait staff duties throughout the course of the event. They did an amazing job!,' stated RoEllen Ranch Farm Adventure owner and co-coordinator Leigh Anne Walker.

Week 1 is in the books and the Trojans took care of business
(High School Sports ~ 08/21/16)
There's one thing that I can take away from the dominating performance which was seen at J.C. Sawyers Stadium on Friday night. It is good to see the Dyersburg offense firing like it was against MLK-Prep. True, this is not a team that is near the level the Trojans will see in the upcoming weeks...
