Library's Junior Book Club meeting

Youngsters attending McIver's Grant Public Library's Junior Book Club were recently treated to a magical experience as Hogwarts came to life in the Kids Zone Reading Room. The club, led by beloved local educator Sarah Alley, kicks off this fall with the first book in the Harry Potter's series. In addition to creating their own wands, tasting Butter Beer, and painting Hogwarts-inspired canvases, students will receive a free book, learn vocabulary words and take part in lively discussions at each session. Meetings will continue in the Kids Zone at 3:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of the month through the end of November. Here, 7-year old Kari Williams, daughter of Nik Williams, learns she belongs to Gryffindor House in an 'official' sorting ceremony.

Dyer County Recycles to host meeting Tuesday night

On Tuesday, Sept. 27, interested members of the community are invited to attend Dyer County Recycles, a recently established committee of local residents who are equipped with a strong desire to promote positive change in the Dyer County community through promoting awareness towards local recycling facilities and ways in which residents can help their local environment by implementing better recycling practices within their homes and workplaces...

Newbern safe room under construction

Construction is underway at Newbern's downtown safe room site. Concrete was poured last week, and workers have since been diligently putting forth efforts to construct the building's framework.
