Eddie L. Patton, Jr., 71, of Lenox, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 2, 2017 at his home. He was born on February 2, 1945 to the late Edgar and Izola Patton. He married his loving wife, Dianne on March 2, 1979. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Tony “Biscuit” Truscott (Connie); a daughter, Kelly Thorpe (Scott); three grandsons and two great-grandson of Churchton; two granddaughters whom he raised, Brittiany Atkins (L.B.) and Brooklyn Truscott (Tommy Taylor); a great-grandson, Landon and a great-granddaughter, Keliann. ...

Second-half rally pushes Lady Choctaws past Brighton

After coming out flat in the opening two quarters after a two-week layoff, the Lady Choctaws came out in the second half and made up for the slow start to take a 70-66 win over the Lady Cardinals in Dyer County’s District 13AAA opener on Tuesday night in Newbern.

After being initially placed in Region 8-4A among teams to the south down Highway 51 – with Brighton and Munford being the two closest – and a schedule full of Memphis-area teams, the Choctaws appealed the placement and the TSSAA granted Dyer County a reprieve from playing in one of the largest regions with a lot of travel. ...
