Barry (Bern) Bolds, age 61 of Dyersburg, died Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Tennova Healthcare- Dyersburg. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017, 12 noon-12:55p.m. at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 208 St. George Ave., Dyersburg, were he was a member. Advise TN goes into effect, county school board recognizes students and teachers

The Dyer County Board of Education convened at 6 p.m. Tuesday in its first called meeting of the new year. With a heavy agenda, the conference room was packed tight with a number of city and county officials, students, and county school system faculty. Items discussed during the meeting included a presentation of the Advise TN program, recognition of tenured staff members, a presentation from Transportation Supervisor Allen Cook, and recognition of the Dyer County High School cross county team.
