After a tough day in Jackson on Tuesday where they suffered a loss at the hands of Trinity Christian Academy, the Lady Choctaws bounced back some on Thursday when they returned home to face Crockett County, but mistakes still hampered the Dyer County volleyball team as the orange and white dropped a four-set match to the Lady Cavaliers in Newbern.

DPD responds to accident at Phillips and Reynolds intersection

At 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dyersburg Police responded to a 2-vehicle accident at the Phillips Street and Reynolds Avenue intersection. The vehicles involved included a 2013 blue Ford Fusion, driven by Jill Peevyhouse, 42, of Dyersburg, and a 2017 white Buick Enclave, driven by Terry Warren, 53, of Dyersburg.

TDEC holds meeting concerning dust and odor from Dyersburg business

On Thursday evening, TDEC [Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation] representatives met with over 30 community members at the Future City Recreation Center. The meeting was established to allow community members to voice their concern over the dust and odor reportedly created from Dyersburg Elevator Company, located at 300 Pressler Road, near the Highway 51 Bypass.

DPD charges second suspect in Allen’s Grocery robbery

Dyersburg Police Department detectives have charged Billy D. Walls, 27, of Hayti, Missouri, with Especially Aggravated Robbery. According to Captain Billy Williams of the Dyersburg Police Department Criminal Investigation Division, subsequent investigation led to the capture of Walls. Lead Detective Mike Leggett and other detectives worked numerous hours bringing the accomplice to justice. Walls’ charge stems from the robbery of Allen’s Grocery that occurred on August 4, 2018.
