Jo Carolyn Turner Mooring, 84, of Ridgely, passed away on Friday at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital. Services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2019 in the Ridgely Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home.

THP to hold sobriety checkpoint on April 12

Shoot Dyer County winners to be revealed Thursday

The results of the Shoot Dyer County 2018 Photography Contest will be revealed Thursday, April 4 at 6 p.m. at the DSCC LRC. The Dyersburg/Dyer County Photography Club and its sponsors will award the winners of six categories a total of $800 in prize money. Bevis case bound over to grand jury

Industrial Development Board ok’s retail project resolution following public hearing

On Monday, April 1, at 2 p.m., the Dyer County Industrial Development Board [IDB] convened to hold a public hearing discussing the proposed $14.48 million retail development and consider a resolution, if approved by the IDB, to be presented before the Dyer County Commissioners on as well as the Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen.

On Monday, April 1, at 7 p.m., the City of Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Alderpersons convened for their regularly scheduled meeting. Following the approval of the previous meeting minutes (March 18), the board turned to new business items on the agenda, beginning with a discussion of the proposed TIF [tax increment financing] retail project, called ‘The Commons’, which was passed by the Dyer County Industrial Development Board [IDB] earlier in the day.

Covington man has FTA dropped, bond reinstated

On Monday, April 1, at 4 p.m., Caprice Peete, 20, of 711 Best St. and Daidreon Poindexter, 18, of 1150 Simonton St., Apt. 808, both of Covington appeared before Judge Dean Dedmon in Dyersburg City Court on weapon and drug charges. Last Tuesday, March 26, Judge Dedmon issued a warrant on Poindexter for failure to appear and revoked his $20,000 bond. Peete, who was present during the March 26 court appearance, mentioned he and Poindexter obtained the services of Huffman Mason, PLLC in Covington, however, he did not have legal council in the courtroom.

Trial date for Wallace set for July 10

Cassandra Wallace, the 31-year-old woman arrested in July of 2018 on charges of aggravated assault, theft under $1,000, and aggravated robbery, appeared in Dyer County Circuit Court on Tuesday, April 2, where her case was set for trial on July 10, 2019.

Man who allegedly assaults officer appears in city court

On Monday, April 1, Bryan Blair, 42, of 93 Burris Street of the Miston community, appeared before Judge Dean Dedmon in Dyersburg City Court on charges of aggravated assault (domestic), resisting arrest, and assault on a police officer.

Tentative trial date set for local man accused of first-degree murder

On Tuesday, April 2, a tentative trial date was set for Jon Dillon Wheeler, 29, the local man who was arrested in February of 2016 on first-degree murder charges involving the death of a 2-month-old infant child.
