Lady Choctaws open week with shutout

Dyer County softball got its week off to a positive start at home on Monday, getting a run early then added insurance scores in each of its last two at bats as the Lady Choctaws took a 3-0 win over Westview in Newbern in non-district action. Lady Choctaw pitcher Payton Reasons was nearly untouchable on the mound, allowing just two hits in the shutout while striking out nine and issuing only one walk in the victory which saw the Dyer County defense play an errorless game...

Dyer County Schools kindergarten registration scheduled for April 10

The Dyer County School System will have kindergarten graduation for every school on Wednesday, April 10, from 8:15 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. A child must be 5 years old on or before August 15, 2019 to attend kindergarten during the 2019-2020 school year. City Local Government committee ok’s previously tabled transient vendor ordinance

On Wednesday, April 3, at 9 a.m., the City of Dyersburg Local Government Committee, consisting of Alderwomen Mary Claire Hopper and Vanedda Webb, as well as Alderman James Baltimore, and Dyersburg Mayor John Holden, convened for the committee’s first meeting since the recent election. The committee covered various items of business on the agenda, including conducting a discussion of the transient vendor ordinance, which was tabled in March 2017 by the previous Board of Mayor and Aldermen.

Dyersburg school board ok’s tenure for several teachers, amends end of year calendar

The Dyersburg City School Board convened Monday, April 1 at 5:30 p.m. for their regularly scheduled meeting. All members of the board were present. Following the approval of the consent items (the meeting’s agenda, previous meeting minutes, the five-year strategic plan, and TSBA student award nomination), the meeting turned to new business led with a list of 16 instructors to be considered for tenure.

DPD warns public of donation scam

The Dyersburg Police Department is currently investigating a complaint of money containers placed in local businesses in the Dyersburg area on behalf of Shelby Hubbard’s family. At the request of the family, the Dyersburg Police Department is making citizens aware of the scam or fraudulent activity. According to the Hubbard family, they are not seeking any monetary donation from the community.

Dyersburg man’s bond set at $250,000 for alleged assault, kidnapping charges
