Gerald Lynn Autry, 66, of Newbern, Tennessee, died Monday at Baptist Hospital-East in Memphis, Tennessee. Funeral services for Mr. Autry will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Newbern Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow in Hurricane Hills Cemetery. County schools to operate under Phase 2 guidelines next week

Officials at Dyer County High School have released information regarding passes to football games for the upcoming 2020 season in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Those wishing to see the Choctaws on the gridiron will be required to purchase a season pass according to school officials.

DHS announces guidelines regarding tickets for upcoming 2020 football season

On Thursday morning officials at Dyersburg High School released guidelines, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for those interested in attending home games featuring the Trojan football team. The major change for 2020 as opposed to years’ past is there fans will not be able to purchase tickets at the gate on the night of the home games. Wearing masks and social distancing regarding those wishing to attend the games will be a top priority.

Pandemic food assistance is still available for parents that apply soon

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) is reminding parents that there’s time to apply for a program to help provide food for their children during the COVID-19 pandemic. Families can apply for Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) benefits here until Friday, August 14 at 4:30 Central Time. Dyer County COVID-19 update for August 13

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Thursday, the department reported Dyer County as having 696 total COVID-19 cases, which contains confirmed and probable cases, as well as 371 active cases and 316 recoveries. The total number of deaths in the county due to the virus also increased to 9.
