Lady Trojans grind out one-goal win over McKenzie

The Lady Trojan soccer team continued its strong start to the 2020 season on Tuesday night at J.C. Sawyers Stadium. But, it was not a cruising win as the black and gold girls had to make sure a second-half goal was enough to get the 1-0 win over visiting McKenzie.

Local VFW to hold first responder appreciation cookout Saturday

This Saturday, Sept. 12, the VFW Post 1972 will host a cookout at the VFW building, located at 1355 St. John Ave. in Dyersburg, to show appreciation to first responders. The cookout is scheduled to occur from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be served. First responders eat free with ID or if they are in uniform. DCHS’ Hermann named National Merit semifinalist

On Wednesday, September 9, officials from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Among the names listed was Nicholas Hermann, a senior from Dyer County High School.

Dyersburg Board approves sick-leave policy amendment, beer permits

The Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen convened via teleconference Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. The traditional Monday meeting was pushed back to Tuesday due to the Labor Day holiday. During the meeting, public hearings were held to discuss an amendment in the City’s sick leave policy, as well as the hearing of two beer permits, all of which were passed by the board.

Dyer County COVID-19 update for September 9

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Wednesday, the department reported Dyer County as having a total of 1,061 COVID-19 cases, which consist of confirmed and probably cases. Additionally, the TDH said that Dyer County had 112 active cases with 938 recoveries/inactive cases. The total number of deaths due to the virus increased from 10 to 11.
