Lady Trojans wrap district play with win over Crockett

After dropping their only District 13AA contest of the year last week at South Gibson, the Lady Trojans bounced back in convincing fashion in district play on Tuesday night at home, defeating Crockett County 6-0 to wrap up regular season 13AA play for Dyersburg.

Where the rubber meets the road: City and county officials address tire hoards at Bowen Lane, Lyte Circle

Last discussed during the August meeting of the Dyer County Legislative Body, the county is taking a new approach to the health and safety standards for residential and non-residential properties. Brought up by several members of the public were properties located in Middle City and Bowen Lane. On each property are hundreds of tires stacked on top of one another.

3rd Annual Fork & Cork draws support for Dyer-Lake CASA

The 3rd Annual Fork & Cork event welcomed a large crowd to the Fyrne Lake Lanai venue on Tuesday, Sept. 19. Attendees enjoyed a night of food, fellowship, music from Jordan Skoda, and a live auction. “The 3rd Annual Fork & Cork fundraiser was such a success,” said Dyer-Lake CASA Executive Director Wendy Smith “We already received an inquiry about becoming more involved with CASA and how they can help, whether volunteering or as a board member. That is what the event is about. Bringing awareness to the need for individuals to become involved with our community’s children that need a safe permanent home to become successful in their lives, as well as their families being able to successfully parent and become better care givers. We appreciate and thank all of our supporters that helped it become a successful event!” . ...

Midway through the prep football season

Hard to believe it because it seems to have flown by, but we are at the midpoint of the high school football season for both of our local teams. Likewise, both the Trojans and Choctaws each have games the next two Friday nights before taking a break for their bye week in Week 8...

Habitat for Humanity breaks ground on their 32nd home

Northwest Tennessee Habitat for Humanity broke ground on their 32nd dwelling, this one at Lewis Avenue and Brasfield Street in Dyersburg. The event took place on Monday, September 18th and was attended by Habitat’s local board and the new homeowner-to-be Stephanie Phelps and her children Amere and Arai.
