Good Friday!

Happy Good Friday! It is truly the happiest day in history. Jesus died on the cross this Good Friday. My whole life I knew that Jesus had died for us all the cross. But today as I read I realized he died with us. He died to defeat death and to give us eternity with him. This is a very confusing mystery for most of the world. Last night at the Last Supper we gathered again to break the bread and drink the cup that was the ultimate sacrifice. As a Catholic, this is so key to our faith. It is what differentiates us. We Believe that Jesus comes down to us at every Mass in the form of bread and wine. Many faiths cannot fathom this and that is why we have so much to division within our Christian faith. We humans begin to question what is right, what is true, what is a hoax? We were told our faith is a mystery. It may never be solved until we cross into eternity. Do I have questions? Of course. The longer you live the more questions you ask. Something deep inside of me just knows that at every Mass I encounter Christ. I repeat the exact same words that the disciples did that very night of the Last Supper. I am part of the body of Christ. It is my one true thing.
Today is Good Friday. Businesses are closed. Schools are not in session. Not just where I live, but all around the world people take notice. The crucifix becomes prominent. We are reminded that in death we are saved. Just like yesterday students we talked about dying to ourselves. That is what we are called to do. That is what we are all reminded of today. You have homework today. Many churches will have services so for extra credit try to go attend one. But the real assignment is to pick something to die to within your daily life. It could be a bad habit like an addiction or holding grudges. It could be obsessing over your telephone. There are so many habits we need to die to. Find your bad habit to crucify today.
