Under Secretary Karis T. Gutter visits Dyer County

A national leader in agriculture stopped in Dyer County on Wednesday morning as part of a tour of drought-ravaged areas throughout the region. USDA Deputy Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services Karis T. Gutter stopped by the Dyer County Farm Service Agency to meet with local farmers, farm service officials, and state and local leaders. Gutter met with local representatives in the conference room of the FSA center and then visited a cornfield significantly affected by drought in the Middle City community. Dyer County joins Benton, Carroll, Crockett, Gibson, Henry, Houston, Humphreys, Lake, Montgomery, Obion, Shelby, Stewart, Tipton and Weakly counties as a primary county eligible for assistance through FSA recovery programs.
