Holice Powell Elementary School recently celebrated National Watermelon Day by offering the sweet summer snack with lunch. Students who went through the lunch line were also treated to a variety of healthy foods offered by the Dyer County School System, including steamed broccoli, cucumber slices, sweet potatoes and whole wheat rolls. Healthy a-la-cart items like baked chips, yogurt, reduced-sugar fruit roll ups and plain and flavored waters are also available to children every day. Coordinated School Health recently added a salad bar to the cafeteria, as well.
