Hometown Heroes Banner Program
The State Gazette is excited to announce the 2024-26 Hometown Hero Banner Program. The mission of this program is to honor and recognize Dyer County area veterans and their families, and to show our support to future generations choosing to serve our country.
In an effort to support future veterans, the State Gazette will be sponsoring the Veterans of Tomorrow scholarship. The State Gazette is introducing this scholarship program as a way to give back to future veterans.
A portion of revenues generated from this project will be designated to one Dyersburg High School senior and one Dyer County High School senior who will be joining any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. The first two Veterans of Tomorrow scholarships will be awarded in the 2025 school year.
The Hometown Heroes Program is a way to recognize local men and women who served, currently serve, or have paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving the U.S. Banners will be placed around the downtown Veterans Square in Dyersburg and along Main Street in downtown Newbern. Banners will be sold for $300 each.
Banners will remain on display for two years (Memorial Day – Labor Day, 2024 and 2025). Following Labor Day of the second year, banners may picked up by the purchaser.
The deadline to submit your application and remit payment to State Gazette is Thursday, April 19, 2024.
Veterans recognized and honored must have resided in Dyer County at some point in their lives.
Sponsorships Opportunities
Individuals or businesses interested in supporting the program may want to consider a sponsorship. A sponsorship is a general donation toward the Banner Program.
