Dyer County COVID-19 update for Aug. 7

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s daily COVID-19 update, the department on Friday reported Dyer County as having 619 total COVID-19 cases, which contains confirmed and probable cases, as well as 339 active cases and 273 recoveries. The total number of deaths in the county due to the virus remained at 7.

Additionally, the TDH said the county has 690 PCR positive test results and 5,691 PCR negative results.

In comparison to yesterday’s (Thurs. Aug. 6) numbers, total cases increased by 26, with active cases increasing by 14, and recoveries increasing by 12.

Statewide, Tennessee was reported having 118,782 total cases, with 117,087 confirmed and 1,695 probable. Recoveries were listed at 79,357 (67 percent).

Total deaths in the state were reported at 1,206 (1 percent), with 1,167 confirmed and 39 probable.

A total of 1,660,377 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the state with 1,520,171 resulting in PCR negatives and 140,166 PCR positive results.

Tennessee COVID-19 hospitalizations listed by the TDC on Friday was as follows:

- 5,190 hospitalizations (4 percent)

- 63,984 not hospitalized (54 percent)

- 49,608 pending (42 percent)

Shelby County (Memphis) continues to lead the state in total COVID-19 cases with 22,635, while Davidson County (Nashville) is second, with 20,185.
