Martha Wheeler Donner Borthwick, 92, of Osprey, FL, formerly of Dyersburg, died Thursday, January 12, 2017 at her residence. Born November 14, 1924 to the late Richard H. and Mary Kennedy Wheeler, she was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. She was an avid bridge player and was involved with a weekly group known as The Almighty Bridge Club. She was also a member of The Field Club and The Oaks Club in Osprey and was very supportive of Marie Selby Botanical Gardens...

Paramedic Advisory Committee convenes at DSCC

Dyersburg State Community College welcomed members of the Paramedic Advisory Committee to a meeting held Jan. 10 inside the Security Bank Community Learning Center on the Dyersburg campus. The agenda included a report regarding a 100 percent placement rate of DSCC’s Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) graduates and the announcement that a new Paramedic to RN program will begin at the Dyersburg campus in fall of 2018. DSCC is the only college in West Tennessee offering a Critical Care Paramedic program. Ten of the 12 students in DSCC’s first Critical Care Paramedic program began their paramedic career at DSCC. This weekend, more than 120 young people from across the state will convene in Dyersburg for the 8th annual Davis P. Rice Memorial Youth Waterfowl Hunt. Annual Special Olympics held at DHS

On Friday, Jan. 27, approximately 100 participants took the court of the Terry Glover Gymnasium at Dyersburg High School for the 2017 Dyer County Basketball Skill Special Olympics. The gym buzzed with excitement as students and teachers from Dyersburg City and Dyer County Schools, along with adults from Developmental Skills Center gathered together to show off their basketball skills in a friendly competition.
